Schools

Primary schools

We offer clinics to primary schools from group five to group eight. In these clinics, which can be given on location, a combination of boxing, sports and games, and ‘Rots en Water’ (Rock and Water, a Dutch program) will be employed to create a fun, challenging training adapted to the children’s age group. Boxing is an excellent way to teach children aged nine and up how to cooperate, take other children into consideration, set boundaries and feel empowered. In group eight and the first grade of secondary school, children have to navigate major changes and find their footing in new situations. Boxing creates a sense of community, which in turn leads to children being respectful towards each other. For kids between 9 and 12 years old it is very important to learn resilience and assertiveness and to develop empathy, which is naturally trained during playful movement together. We advise to teach a course of at least 6 lessons of one hour each. Kids who are enthusiastic, are given the opportunity to continue with our structural classes for kids.

You can find more information about how classes are set up here: KIDS 9-12

Secondary schools

For secondary schools, we can offer a single clinic, a lesson series, or a structural offer for an entire semester or school year. Especially in our current society, in which an increasing emphasis is placed on individuality, high performance is expected constantly and in which there is an overkill of information and stimuli, it is important for children to practice sports together and pay attention to themselves and others. Our lessons are (inter)active, challenging and a perfect part of children’s orientation of different sports. We offer the options of training in the school’s gym, on a sports field, or at our own club. Classes consist of teaching boxing techniques and tactics, and training coordination, endurance, speed, strength, and flexibility. Pupils are also challenged to push their limits, both mentally and physically. From our own experience, we find that the confidence and resilience of our pupils increases significantly after a few lessons, and the group dynamics have improved. If desired, extra components can be added with themes such as anti-bullying, handling peer pressure, self-defense, etc.

Adolescents who are enthusiastic, are given the opportunity to continue with our structural classes for youth ages 12-17.

College and Universities

During student life, themes such as identity, leadership, coaching, personal growth and cooperating are very present, but they are usually taught from a book or in a lecture hall… To truly feel what these themes are all about, a boxing clinic is an ideal approach. In boxing, you find yourself and you learn how you react instinctively in different situations. You learn what holds you back and how you can conquer yourself, or develop. Our clinics are also an excellent way ‘just’ to learn how to box, to let go for a bit or to relax. We are happy to adjust our clinics to your demands. Boxing is very popular among students, and Verbon Boxing Club is very proud of its many student members.
